I figured that they would admit us this time. And after an hour or so in the ER, my guess was confirmed. We were being moved to the 7th floor, so they could monitor Hattie overnight. The weirdest part of all this...Hattie always looked so happy. Unless she was being stuck with a needle. No one looks happy then.
Swaddled in the ER. Soon after we moved up to the 7th floor, we learned that Vanderbilt doesn't allow swaddling overnight...so we basically stayed awake all night.
Hard to believe this girl had a fever, right?!
Good thing we packed some pjs for Hattie! And we are so thankful for good friends who brought us cozy blankets, pjs, dinner, cake, and magazines!
This baby loves her blabla rattle!
We were ready to go home after one night in the hospital!
Poor baby got stuck in both arms, her head, and both feet for blood to be drawn! She had little bruises and it just broke our hearts! She was obviously worn out!
After they monitored her all night and all the next day, and she hadn't run a fever since that morning, I convinced the doctors to let us take her home so she could sleep in her bed. I knew that I could monitor her...I had been doing it for 3 weeks! And they had blood for tests. Thankfully, they agreed not to keep her a 2nd night!
That was June 20th. And that was her last fever! Praise the Lord! It came down to her having a urinary tract infection and a virus on top of that. She was just having a hard time shaking that virus. But thankfully, she has been fever free for over a month now!
What we learned in this whole ordeal: Sometimes, Momma knows best. Needles stink. Children's hospitals are wonderful and at the same time, so sad. Swaddling is awesome, being told your baby has to sleep unswaddled for the first time...is not awesome. Our friends are amazing. And God is good.
